About the challenge
We created Emerald Hacks, because we fell in love with the hackathon culture. First, collaboration in a hackathon is an amazing process, where bright minds collaborate together to create something that reflects each of their strengths. Also, every single participation holds a new learning experience.
The perhaps biggest reason for starting this hackathon is that we noticed a lot of so-called "beginner friendly" hackathons were not really beginner friendly: the only amateur aspect of these hackathons was that they had basic workshops, and allowed the participants to make anything they wanted to. Many of the participants were submitting machine learning applications and full-stack websites in such beginner hackathons. This one, though, is quite unique. It is genuinely meant for those with minimal experience whatsoever in programming.
Requirements
What to Build
At the start of the hackathon, you'll get a small snippet of prebuilt code of a text-based game. You will be given a set of problems asking you to modify your given code. For each problem, you'll earn credit for the parts that you get done, so don't worry if you can't fully solve a problem. it's fine to get one or two points if you are stuck, rarely will someone get a perfect score.
